Why Choose Us

Thomas Dirks

Hi, I’m Tom Dirks, the owner and operator of Dirks Portable Welding and Fabrication located in rural Coggon, Iowa. My work experience at Betenbender includes assembly of shears and press brakes along with being an assembly welder.

In 2021, I graduated from Kirkwood Community College with an associates of applied science in Advanced Welding Technologies.  Prior to that, I graduated from Monticello High School where I took the Welding and Advanced Manufacturing Academies.

My portable welding business allows farmers to keep their equipment on the farm and I can go to them, a more budget-friendly solution.

My hope for my business is to give my customers a resource to help them with their agriculture and heavy  equipment repair needs.

Reliability is number one for me.  If I do a job for you, it’s going to last.

"Doing a remodel of the cattle yard. Adding two new cattle crossings. I got the steel and helped lay out the first one. Tom Dirks laid out the second and welded both of them yesterday in the shop. If you are in need of someone to do a welding project, he does a nice job."
